Berkeley’s Women’s Mentoring Programme launches third cohort

Achieving real outcomes for women in our workplace

The Women@Berkeley Network is delighted to launch its third cohort of the Women’s Mentoring Programme.

The programme was developed in 2023 to provide tailored one-to-one support in career and personal development for the firm’s women and is going from strength to strength.

Tailored mentoring with a focus on women’s lived experiences

Our mentoring gives individualised support to our women in their client roles and career progression, but also in wider situations where a female lens is invaluable, such as working successfully in male-dominated environments or balancing career with life outside of work. By providing mentorship based on lived experiences, rather than seniority or tenure, the approach is tailored to meet individual women’s differing needs.

The voluntary programme is open to all Berkeley women in both the UK and US, matching mentees with internal mentors across the firm. Participants are encouraged to personalise and shape the mentoring relationship to suit and encourage their development.

A cohort of Women@Berkeley mentors and mentees

The Women’s Mentoring Programme is complementary to Berkeley’s other career and personal development initiatives, which include coaching, one-to-one guidance and support from partners, and formal training

We are delighted that the Women@Berkeley Network that created the Mentoring Programme is a key contributor towards The Berkeley Partnership achieving its DE&I ambitions, building a more equitable workplace where all women can achieve their full potential.

The programme has allowed longer-term relationships to flourish between mentors and mentees. Through deepening connections across the firm, we are helping to foster a warm, open culture of belonging and inclusion. Twenty-eight women have been involved as mentors or mentees (sometimes both!) and we look forward to the programme continuing to grow into the future.

Other inspiring women to seed our conversation

Each mentor and mentee pairing receives the same book as a gift to mark the start of their journey together. We choose inspiring women subjects and authors to spark conversation, energise our connections and raise our eyes beyond Berkeley to boost our knowledge and creativity. Our book choices prove to be a very popular aspect of our programme!

Connecting with other networks

Some organisations have well-developed women's mentoring programmes while others are considering establishing their own for the first time. In our journey to create our own programme, we have developed a suite of materials that could support you on your journey. These include training for both mentors and mentees. Contact us if we could be of help and you would like to know more.
